Dr Emma Bryant

Dr Emma Bryant grew up on a farm in the Eastern Cape. She attended boarding school in Grahamstown and completed her undergraduate studies in medicine at the University of Natal.

Dr Bryant then moved to Cape Town, where she completed her internship training at Victoria Hospital and Mowbray Maternity Hospital.

Dr Bryant completed her Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and her masters in medicine at the University of Witwatersrand in the following years. After completion of her training, she continued working at Baragwanath Academic Hospital. At this time, she developed her passion for operative gynaecology and gynaecological cancers.

Dr Bryant was fortunate to receive a funded scholarship from the Life Heath Care Group, which led her to sub-specialise in Gynaecologic Oncology at the University of Pretoria. She also completed her masters in Philosophy of Gynaecologic Oncology during this time and developed skills in both advanced open and laparoscopic surgery for gynaecologic cancers and complicated benign gynaecology.

Dr Bryant now works at the Kalafong Academic Tertiary Hospital in the Gynaecology and Gynaecologic Oncology department. She is also a lecturer at the University of Pretoria and consults from her private practice at Life Groenkloof Hospital. Dr Bryant is passionate about staying in contact with academia and works closely with her colleagues and professors in the Gynaecology Oncology Department at the University of Pretoria.

Dr Emma Bryant and her husband, Roland, moved to Pretoria so she could continue her work at the university and Life Groenkloof Hospital. They have two children, Alexander and Leah.
